Botox®

Botox is a purified protein which works by relaxing the tug of muscles on the skin creating a smoother, fresher, younger look. Botox is injected just under the skin into the muscles of the face to cause them to relax. The results are very natural looking and the effect lasts 4-6 months. The three areas typically treated are the frown lines (between the eyes), the forehead and the side of the eyes (crow’s feet). The treatments are painless as the needles are tiny. Side effects from cosmetic use of Botox and allergic-type reactions are extremely rare.

Fillers

Fillers such as Restylane are made of a naturally occurring substance called hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid hydrates the skin by retaining water and gives the skin its volume. Over time the body loses hyaluronic acid and the skin starts to sag and form wrinkles and folds. Fillers replace the lost hyaluronic acid to restore volume and shape. The fillers are available in syringes (small and large) and are gently injected into areas of the face where they are needed. The results are instantaneous, completely natural and last a year, or longer. A topical anaesthetic (Emla cream) is applied to the area before the treatment (dental block injections are used for the lips) so that the treatments are painless. The client can return to work immediately afterwards. Adverse side effects and allergic-type reactions are extremely rare

Chemical Peels

Chemical Peels involve a non-toxic chemical (ANA or TCA) used to treat age spots, acne, uneven skin (dark and light areas), changes caused by smoking (including fine lines) and skin damaged by the sun. The peels lift off the superficial to medium layers of skin and along with clinically proven facial creams stimulate new skin growth. The new skin is smoother, less wrinkled and more even in both tone and colour compared to the old skin. The peels are not painful and only cause a warm tingling sensation when applied. The client can expect to have some redness for an hour after the peel and slight peeling of the skin between days 3-5 after a deeper peel. Clients can go back to work an hour or so after the peel and can easily continue work and social engagements in between peels. Side effects and allergic-type reactions are extremely rare.
